Kues, Germany: St.-Nikolaus Hospital/Cusanusstift


You've heard of the old folks home, of course, even if it's not particularly politically correct. This, on the other hand, is an old ... old folks home. 

This was build by Bishop Nicholas von Kues (note the name and the town) way, way back in 1450. It was something of a nursing home for elderly men then, and it has the same function now. There's a chapel on the grounds that is open for visits. It all looks quite nice from the river.
