Luxembourg, Luxembourg: Cercle Municipal

This area has a relatively interesting history. It used to be the site of a restaurant, but someone decided it should be the spot of a civic building around 1902. A contest was held for the design, and you see the winner here. It was dedicated in 1910.

This became something of a courtroom for the European coal and steel industry in 1952, and that role lasted until 1969. But the judicial function faded out in 2006, when the building became something of an events center.
