The National Assembly is the major legislative force in Serbian politics. There's only one group (unlike the United States with the House and Senate), and the 250 deputies are elected to four-year terms.
As for the building, construction began in 1907, but there were little delays like World War I along the way. It opened in 1936 and was the home Parliament of Yugoslavia as well as the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro. Since 2006 it's simply been the House of the National Assembly of Serbia.
