Novi Sip, Serbia: Tito Memorial

They still remember Josef Tito in the former Yugoslavia. You get a reminder of that while riding along the Danube in Derdap National Park. Here this monument stands to honor a leader who has been gone for more than 40 years.

There don't seem to be any back stories to this, at least on line, and I would guess that it's something of a homemade memorial. I did find an older photo, and it looks like it hasn't been particularly well maintained. Has anyone got a lawn trimmer in that area?

But it is still there, standing guard over the river.
