In the 1920s, this building used to be the home of the Governor-General of Australia. That only lasted 10 years, when it switch over to being rental property of sorts. But in 1956, the House was set aside as the place where the Prime Minster could perform official duties when needed.
You have to admit, it's on a prime spot of real estate. It is right on the Harbour (where this photo was taken of course), so that it has great views of the bridge, the opera house and the city center. By the way, it's open one day a year to the general public.
