Deadwood, South Dakota: Saloon #10

This is where it became bad luck to hold a poker hand of a pair of aces and a pair of eights -- the dead man's hand.

The dead man in question is Wild Bill Hickok, who was gunned down here in 1876. The killer? Coward Jack McCall.

That's the last time Wild Bill will sit with his back to the door. He was said to be uneasy with the arrangement, but went ahead with it because it was the only open chair.

The place is a museum/bar, oddly enough, and the murder is recreated a few times a day for the tourists. Among the patrons back in the day were Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp and Calamity Jane.

Knock, knock. Can we come in?
