Hull, Quebec: Canadian Museum of Civilization


For those visiting Ottawa, Canada's capital, and feel like taking a walk, the Canadian Museum of Civilization is a good destination. For starters, the walk includes a stroll on a bridge over a river to Hull, Quebec, so you can say you walked all the way to another province. Then when are on solid land, it's not a long distance to the museum. The entrance features some very interesting architecture, as shown above.

There are plenty of exhibits in the building, with a good-sized emphasis on Native history. Some of the totem poles are shown in the picture below. A Native village has been reconstructed on a small scale. Exhibits for children and an IMAX Theater are also in the building.

It's all a little on the dry side, but pretty well done if you have an interest in the subject.
