Giant Sequoia National Monument, California: Grizzly Falls

This stream probably isn't much to see in the fall, but it certainly roars in the spring.

Welcome to Grizzly Falls, an 80-foot waterfall that's located in Giant Sequoia National Monument - and not far from Kings Canyon National Park.

The water drains into the South Fork of the Kings River, and the waterfall is a short walk from Route 180. Considering how beautiful this is, the waterfall picks up points for how accessible it is. There are event picnic tables and toilets for visitors.

It's a quick stop by car if you like -- or there are a couple of picnic tables if you'd like to stay a while. The months between and including May to July are considered the best time of year to go. It takes some time for the snow pack to melt in the spring, but the water increases in intensity in those months.

One word of caution: This area goes through quite a few road repairs in the summer months, since winter can leave some marks behind. Check with the proper authorities before launching on a long drive on a dead-end road.
