Washington, D.C. Garfield Statue

Some Americans don't even know that James Garfield was President of the United States, let alone assassinated in office. His statue isn't exactly on the list of must-see locations on Washington.

Still, it's nice to have this tribute to someone who paid the ultimate price for serving his country. And as you can see, it's in a pretty nice location. Not surprisingly, it is located on Garfield Circle. The statue was unveiled in 1887, a mere six years after Garfield was killed in New York City. It shows him giving a speech in public.

Take a moment if you are walking on the Mall and see for yourself.
