Washington, D.C.: Korean Memorial

It took a while for Congress to get around to erecting a memorial for those who served in the Korean War. Someone did a nice job on it when it was finally completed, though. The area was dedicated in 1995, and it's a tribute to the almost six million Americans who were part of that war in Asia. 

Pictured above are 19 soldiers going through an area resembling rice paddies. Nearby is a wall of images from the conflict. The wall reflects the images so that it looks like 38 soldiers. That's not a coincidence. The line between North and South Korea is the 38th parallel. 

As you can see from the picture above, it is relatively close to the Lincoln Memorial in the mall. Definitely worth a stop.
