Luxembourg, Luxembourg: The National Motto

Here's an odd little lesson about the country of Luxembourg. It's odd because it is presented in a strange way - on the outside wall of a bar.

You have to look careful at the writing on Monke's Bar, sticking out under the windows from the second floor. It reads, "Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sinn." That more or less translates to "We want to remain what we are."

That comes from a poem written by Michel Lentz in 1859. Apparently it caught on.
