Luxembourg, Luxembourg: Saint Michael's Church

Here's a piece of land that has held a church on its space for more than 1,000 years. The ground was first used for that purpose in 987; it was a chapel for the Count of Luxembourg.

Since then, the place has been rebuilt and remodeled several times. The current appearance was adopted in 1688. As you'd expected, the remodeling of such an old place never quite stops. It was touched up in the 1960s, 1980s, and 2000s.

One photo doesn't quite do it, of course.
