Bucharest, Romania: Kretzulescu Church

This stands out a bit. The Kretzulescu Church is absolutely surrounded by huge buildings in the center of Bucharest. The contrast in size is dramatic enough, but the difference in ages is striking as well.

The Orthodox church is the oldest in the city, as it dates back to the 1720s. It's interesting to note that you can still see some of the damage to the church caused by the violence of the 1989 Revolution.

Take all the photos you want outside; the authorities don't allow such images to be taken of the inside. There is a video of a tourist who brought a camera past the "no camera" signs in the place, but I chose not to use it here.
