The Parliament Building is a marvel. That's where the National Assembly's meetings are held, and it's a major tourist attraction. Those who know about such things say it's one of the prettiest buildings designed for that purpose in the world.
A structure designed to hold the political body was first planned in the late 1800s. The Westminster Palace was said to be a role model for the design. The idea was to have it ready by Hungary's 1,000th birthday in 1896, and part of the building was done by then. However, it wasn't completely finished until 1904. It took 40 million bricks to construct it.
It sits right on the Danube, affording a great view from boats that pass by. There are plenty of statues in and out of the building, as befits a structure like this. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and worth a video.
