Sadly, my photo cut off the head of St. Stephen, the first King of Hungary. I'm forced to go with this picture of the statue, courtesy of bookinbudapest.com.
St. Stephen had a nice 38-year run as the leader of the country. Hungary became a major economic trading spot during his time as King. He even outlived his children. Without a succession plan in place, Hungary moved into civil war after his death.
As
for the statue, it's been in front of the Royal Castle for most than
100 years and still looks great. Especially with its head on.
