The City Hall in Vienna was a big one, checking in at 322 feet. There were taller structures around, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but it was in a class by itself for a building. The distinction lasted from 1892 to 1894. Then the City Hall in Milwaukee took over. It was nice while it lasted.
Construction of the facility was finished in 1883. It holds the mayor and the various legislatures and office-holders in a stylish way. There are about 3,000 rooms.
The place has been getting quite a facelift since 2012, when the city agreed to spend 35 million Euros to fix it all up. It's supposed to be about done at some point this year. When we walked past on a Friday, the area is front of it was very much alive with a big party/market.
