London, England: Victoria Embankment Gardens

I suppose there are equally good places to walk on a fine spring day than London's Victoria Embankment Gardens. There probably aren't any better ones.

The area was constructed in 1874 between a road called Victoria Embankment and the Thames River. The gardens aren't open 24 hours a day. They do open at 7:30 a.m. each day, and close around dusk - whenever that might fall.

Statues are posted in the Gardens of a variety of people; the biggest names probably are Robert Burns and John Stuart Mill. A Korean war memorial also can be found on the grounds.

As you'd expect, this is a popular spot for lunch on a nice day. Here's a way to see more of the area.
