Varazdin, Croatia: World of Insects

"The World of Insects" is located in a mighty distinguished looking building. It was constructed in 1791, and certainly ranks as a stately addition to the neighborhood in Varazdin.

But what about what's inside? That's where the display on our tiny neighbors is placed.

Professor Franjo Košćec was an expert on the subject, and in 1959 he donated his collection of insects to the city. The municipality graciously accepted the gift, and opened up a small museum to the public. There are 4,500 different creatures exhibited, with butterflies and beetles taking center stage. It's considered one of the best such collections of its kind in Europe, and the price of entrance is only a few Euros.

I'm not going to say this qualifies as a major attraction for many, but it's nice to give all of those bugs a final resting place and home.

By the way, there is nothing on YouTube about this museum, which may be a first. Let's work on that.
