Here's a salute to the good folks of Hirzenach. Considering that the little villages in castle country on the Rhine River sort of look like, Hirzenach put out a sign facing the river that makes sure everyone knows where they are. Someone knows a bit about marketing there. The population is shrinking, and it is aging. Now I feel guilty that the boat didn't at least stop there for a while.
Hirzenach only has about 300 residents. It's actually part of Boppard, although it's more like a suburb - a tiny one, but a suburb. St. Bartholomew's Church, shown in the photo, dates all the way back to the 12th century.
