This was built in the late 1300s, mostly for the purpose of collecting tolls on the river. But once times changed, there was no real reason for anyone to pay attention to the structure. So it started to deteriorate in the 1500s and 1600s. Someone figured out the property was valuable in 1900, when a rebuilding program began. It suffered some damages from shelling in World War I, but it was repaired relatively quickly.
There's an aviary there now, and visitors can take a look in the summer months.
