Glacier National Park, Montana: Logan Pass

There's nothing like a summer vacation in Montana. It's like having a touch of winter.

Park workers had cleared off the snow from Going-to-the-Sun Road on the eastern approach to Logan Pass when we were there in mid-June. The area at the Pass still had plenty of snow left, and the visitor center wasn't open.

There's only one road that goes from east to west (and vice versa) in the middle of the park, and this is it. Logan Pass is the point where you can sort of start coasting. The visitors' center is a good spot to celebrate. It dates back to 1966.

This place gets very crowded in the prime season, as the parking lot fills up quickly and the bathroom lines are lengthy. So plan accordingly if you want to see the views in person.
