Couldn't you go for a nice cold beer about now?
Oops. Advertising is difficult to forget.
Running Eagle Falls features a short, paved walk in the Two Medicine area of Glacier National Park. At certain times of the year, the water here is a trickle. This is not one of them; it was roaring in June.
It is sometimes called "Trick Falls," because the geology is very unusual. One plume of water comes over the top of the other one, although it's difficult to see here because of the volume of water. As the summer goes on, the upper stream tends to disappear.
This was named after Running Eagle, a member of the Blackfeet Tribe. She was the only woman to be given a warrior's name, an amazing honor by 18th century standards.
It's an easy, level walk to get here. Two Medicine Lake is just down the road from this. It's not a particularly accessible part of the park, but it's still pretty.
