Tampa, Florida: MOSI
The Museum of Science and Industry has a little bit of something for everyone -- exhibits on medicine, prehistoric beasts, technology, flight and space.
Me, I liked the hurricane chamber, which is shown above. Visitors get to sit down in a small room when they turn up the fan ... and turn it up and turn it up. Wind speeds reach 75 mph in the room, so hair and clothes are sticking straight out and no one even thinks about trying to stand up. Remember, some hurricanes are about twice that speed. It's enough to make tourists think twice about moving to Florida, or at least visiting in the hurricane season.
MOSI is pretty well done, although as you'd expect there are plenty of school groups passing through. In other words, peace and quiet can be missing.
