Yarmouth, Maine: Eartha

For those of you who are searching for information on Eartha Kitt, sorry.

Eartha is the name of the globe at the Garmin Company. It was original part of the DeLorme Company, a map-making firm in Yarmouth, Maine, but Garmin took that over. This is done to exact scale - one millimeter equals one kilometer.

Eartha is 42 feet in diameter and rotates. There are stairs around the exhibit, so - for example - people can look down on the earth and see the North Pole. Visitors can go in and look at Eartha at close range, but it's tough to get a good picture of it inside. So this will have to do.

Eartha is just down the highway (Interstate 295) from L.L. Bean in Freeport.
