This one is outside of the city of Luxembourg. It was set up late in 1944, as the Allies advanced on Germany. The area was formally dedicated in 1960. The Americans will take care of the site forever thanks to a treaty between the two countries.
The most important figure buried here is General George Patton. He was in Germany as part of the occupying forces in December 1945 when he was involved in a car accident. It left him paralyzed for a short time, and he soon died of the injuries suffered then. He was buried here according to his wishes, with his men.
The facility is worth a longer look.
