Luxembourg, Luxembourg: Monuments of Dicks and Lentz

This one is all about national pride, although it take a little local knowledge to make it work.

The top has a lion holding the family crest of the country. The national motto is written on the column. A blacksmith on the sculpture represents the iron and steel industry.

But the key part of the story is that Dicks and Lentz are shown here. They not only were the first poets to write in Luxembourgish, but they created the national anthem.

This is a really small country, of course, which is part of the attraction for tourists. They have a bigger role in world affairs then you might think, mostly economic, and they're proud of that. Good for them.
