Bucharest, Romania: Bucharest National Opera

Every major European city has a stately building that serves as the Opera House. Bucharest does quite well with its own facility, as you can see. 

This particular group was formed in 1877 and started giving performances in 1885. Even the arrival of the Communists didn't slow this particular organization, which moved into this building in 1953. It holds about a thousand people, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Monuments.
