Constanta, Romania: The Grand Mosque

The old part of Constanta is big enough for two mosques, and this is the youngster of the two. Romanian King Carol I decided to have it built it in 1910, and it took a couple of years before construction was finished. It's on the site of a mosque that dates back to 1822.

There is an admission fee for those who want to look around, but it's only about the equivalent of a dollar. It gives visitors the chance to look around from the top of the tower, and reviewers say the view of the area (remember, it's near the waterfront) is quite nice.

Happily, someone was nice enough to record the view on a video for us.
