Biarritz, France

This is an unusual place. There aren't many typical attractions, but - wow - just about anyone could live there rather happily, provided the money stuff could be worked out.

Biarritz is located on the Bay of Biscay, a part of the Atlantic Ocean, and is a mere 22 miles from the Spanish border. The hotels are nice, the surfing is said to be great, and the casinos were trendy at the time. In other words, the Rich and Famous were known to go there. That means tourism is the top industry in the region.

The biggest attraction is the waterfront. Erosion has done its job over the years, turning the rocks into spectacular formations. If it were bigger, you'd want to declare it a national park on the spot. You really can't take a bad photo of it.

I knew nothing about Biarritz before arriving. This video ought to give a clue why I wasn't anxious to leave.
