St. Anthony, Newfoundland: Fishing Point Municipal Park

St. Anthony is in the northwest corner of Newfoundland, and it's not exactly in the middle of everything. I would guess that most tourists drop by on their way to the Norse site a couple of dozen miles away; this is the closest good-sized town (meaning it has hotels and restaurants) in the area. 

If you do happen to be in the area, you should drop in on Fishing Point Municipal Point. I recall that it was generally known as 'The Point" in town. There's a great view of the coastline, and a lighthouse is in the park to add a nautical flavor. 

You can walk up a bunch of steps to the top of the mountain for a better view, but I would think that the one that was used for this photo will be enough for most. Nice gift shop/museum on the grounds too, and sometimes whales and icebergs show up in the harbor.
