Athens, Greece: Syntagma Square Station

Big cities need public transportation. Bigger cities usually need some sort of underground railroad in order to save space on the surface.

Athens is a big, big city, and it is continuing to expand its subway system. What happens when that happens? Digging is done. But this is Athens, and you never know what treasures you might find underground.

Therefore, you pick up what you dig up ... and make historical exhibits of it. The Syntagma Square Station has such an area dedicated to history, which is a great idea when you think about it. There's even a skeleton tucked into one of the displays, and some plumbing. By the way, if anything very valuable is found in such digs, it is put into a better place and a reproduction is used in the station.
