Most visitors realize that going up to the top is worth the ride (gondola) or walk (hiking), because it's one of the top tourist attractions in the region. More than four million people visit every year. The top of the mountain essentially is a plateau that is more than a mile long. Therefore, it's easy to take a nice walk around the grounds and get a great view of where the ocean means the land in this part of the world. If you like picking out flora and fauna, this is definitely the place to do it.
Even birds like to take a look around when visiting. I thought this was a particularly lucky photo, in that the full moon in the background late that afternoon added a little something the birds looking over the area.
By the way, there are signs telling visitors not to venture on to the rocks near the edge of Table Mountain ... but we spotted a few people doing it anyway. Is a personal photo really necessary in such situation? Do they want to show their friends they are on the crazy side? Sigh.
