Antwerp, Belgium: The Goddess Minerva

There must be a good reason for the Goddess Minerva to pop up at the Steenplein in Antwerp. I just haven't figured it out yet.

It was done in 1954 by the northern Italian artist Marcello Mascherini. Minerva was the goddess of wisdom and sciences for the Greeks. It adds a little culture to the area, I guess.

Minerva hangs out on something of a portion of a bridge to the riverwalk by the old section of Antwerp.
