Copenhagen, Denmark: Opera House

Now, here's an interesting looking building. It's located along the main stretch of the waterfront, even though it's across the river from downtown Copenhagen. The structure knows how to make a dramatic entrance.

No wonder it's the city's opera house.

Operean (Danish name) is in reality the nation's opera house, constructed in early in the 2000s and finished in 2005. The price tag was a pricey 500 million dollars (U.S.). Then again, the people of Denmark got a lot for their money - six stages, a huge orchestra pit, modern facilities, seats designed for maximum visibility, and so on.

Guided tours are available if you are on the right side of the water. We weren't.
