The area is located in the middle of the Western shore of Newfoundland, more or less. It opens out to the Gulf of St. Lawrence, although Newfoundland still claims it for its own. The region used to be very isolated, and for years only a handful of people lived there - and not much has changed since then.
However, a road was built that connects Bottle Cove to Corner Brook in 1961. Telephone service followed in the 1970s. You still need a dish or internet streaming to watch television over there.
