Say hello to Morris the Moose. He's a sculpture located on the Trans-Canada Highway. Morris hangs out by the Irving (Oil Company) pit stop for travelers, which features a gas station, convenience store, and other items. He's something of a tourist attraction, as people line up to take a photo of the almost eight-foot-high creature.
More importantly, Morris serves as a symbol that visitors are now in Moose Country. Drivers there have to be alert that a moose may pop up on the road, which is how accidents happen.
I think our tour went through Deer Lake three times over the course of 12 days. As I said in the main blog, there aren't many major roads here, and doubling back through the same territory comes with the tour. It was always good to see Morris.
