Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland: Shag Cliff

We usually associate fjords with Norway, but the description also applies to certain land forms elsewhere. For example, Bonne Bay is a classic fjord, and just as pretty as its counterparts across the Atlantic.

In this case. Shag Cliff is a great example of what was carved out of the land. The shag is a local word for the type of bird that hangs out here, and many bird lovers and watchers pop up here for a good look around.

The rocks, though, steal the show. They are thrusting upward as a result of geologic activity, and responsible for the beauty of the region.

And how would you like to look out of your window and see that?
