Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia

You never know what you might get to see during a visit at Plitvice Lakes National Park.

It covers part of a mountain range, and as you'd expect some water runs down the hills. The difference with this particular area is that the 16 lakes that are located in the park are connected by waterfalls. Tufa, in the limestone family, collects at the end of each lake and forms a small barrier. Therefore, it's not really a river that runs through the park.

Even better, the water changes color depending on the moment. The mineral content in the water as well as the weather above it can lead to grey, green or blue colors. Therefore, it's a new park every time you visit. By the way, there's is a huge supply of water in this region that can't be seen, because it is underground.

There are some nice walking trails that go along the major portion of the river. Obviously, it's nice to visit in the spring, when water levels are usually high.

I took several photos during a visit to the park, and they all were worthwhile. This one seemed to show the unique waterfalls in one spot. But we need a video to see more.
