Strasbourg, France: Le Petit France

A walk is all that is needed to be impressed by Le Petit France. It's a section of Strasbourg located at the western end of the main island that contains the historic portion of the city. The Ile River splits up around there into various channels. The area is simply full of life, with cafes and stores everywhere and even some bookstores scattered about the area. It has to be considered a highlight of any visit to Strasbourg.

Now what about the name of this part of town? It's not what you think - guaranteed. It is derived from a hospital on the island in the late 1400 called the "hospice of the syphilitic." Yes, the idea was to cure people with syphilis.
