Tromso, Norway: Tromso Cathedral

If you like your churches to be made of wood, for whatever reason, this is your kind of place. This is the only cathedral in Norway to use wood as its building material.

This was constructed in 1861 right in the middle of downtown Tromso. The guess is that churches had been there for a few hundred years before that. I'm not sure who keeps track of these things, but it is said to be the northernmost cathedral in the world.

There is a small little park around the grounds of the place, and there's something of a small stand on it. That's where the winners of the Midnight Sun Run on the summer solstice receive their medals.

This video may be a little longer than many would want, but it's there for the taking .. um, viewing.
