Barcelona, Spain: Arc de Triomf

I don't usually use others' photos here. But the photo I took of the Arc de Triomf wasn't a good one. It was off center, partially blocked by a true, and has the blue tint caused by the bus window. As long as I was there and saw it, I figure there's no harm in seeing a better version on these pages.

There's no military connection to this particular monument. It was built as the welcome arch when Barcelona put on a World's Far in 1888. I've read that some of the decoration on the arch shows Barcelona welcoming the nations of the world to its borders. The fair seems to be the moment when the city showed it belonged with a list of other great cities around the world.

The arc is considered one of the great attractions in Barcelona. Glad I got a brief look at it, at least.
