Toulouse, France: Capitole de Toulouse

This is an impressive building, even if it does have some unusual company.

It's the City Hall of Toulouse, usually known as The Capitole. The leaders of the city wanted something impressive in a new administrative building, and this design was approved and built in 1760. It took a small hit during the French Revolution a few decades later, as some valuable paintings were destroyed. Not only does it contain city council, but it also hosts an opera company and an orchestra. The Capitole dominates the square right in front of it.

Now about that creature. During our visit, Toulouse was getting ready for an "urban opera" that used the streets of the city as a stage. The monster was part of the show, and not a comment on the work inside the building. I think.
