Toulouse, France: Church of the Jacobins

I have to give a shout-out to my friend Karen, who joined us on this trip, for this item.

She had heard about this bizarre little attraction in Toulouse, and made the extra effort to go see it while in Toulouse. Clearly, she is worthy contributor to this page.

The Church of the Jacobins is mostly known for the fact that it contains the remains of St. Thomas Aquinas. But few know that it is also the home of a "crushed guy."

Visitors have to seek this one out. But eventually, they might find him under one of the pillars in the church. On one side are a couple of hands, and on the other are a pair of feet.

What's the story behind it? Good question. Some of the guides at the church (which dates back to the 13th century) don't even know it's there. But I'd like to think someone, somewhere is smiling whenever it comes up in conversation down here.
