Lake Wales, Florida: Historic Bok Sanctuary

Care to guess where the highest point of Florida below the Panhandle area is?

It's in Lake Wales, in the middle of the state east of Tampa. On that site (no need to call it a mountain) is Historic Bok Sanctuary. Shown at left is a 205-foot bell tower.

There are all sorts of gardens on the 250 acres of grounds, plus the Bok Mansion. Mr. Edward Bok was a Dutch immigrant.

The place has been an attraction since 1929. Those seeking low-key amusement should check it out if visiting the area.
