If you see a random photo from Bamberg, chances are quite good that it shows this scene.
The Old Town Hall first went up in 1467, and it received several updates over the eyars. It is located on a very small island on the river, connected to the mainland by pedestrian bridges.
According to legend, the Bishop of Bamberg didn't authorize any money for a town hall's construction. So the people went about the business of making their own - placing it on a man-made island in the process.
Make sure to get as many views of the place as possible, since the sides are quite spectacular too. And you can still go into the building for a look around.
