Atlanta, Georgia: The Atlanta Falcon

Fans going to NFL games usually don't leave talking about a sculpture. The one in Atlanta is the exception.

Say hello to the Atlanta Falcon, a sculpture by Gábor Miklós Szőke from Hungary. It's named after the football team that plays there of course, and it makes quite an impression. The Falcon weighs at 73,000 pounds and is more than 40 feet high. It took a couple of years for the crew of 200 to put it together, but you'd have to say it all came together quite nicely.

When we showed up in late March, the area around the stadium was more or less empty. What's more, the area right around the Falcon was surrounded by a fence. Don't these people know about tourism? Luckily, I managed to get my camera lens through an opening and took this shot.

By the way, a soccer ball sculpture is also on the grounds, although I can't say I saw it.
