Tromso, Norway: Arctic Cathedral

You have to drive across the bridge from downtown to get to one of Tromso's most famous churches, but at least you can see it coming, located right on the waterfront.

This building actually is called the Tromsdalen Church, with the word "cathedral" nowhere to be found officially. Its design made sure people paid attention when it was constructed in 1965. A spiffy new big organ was added in 2005. Eleven aluminum concrete panels on each side give the building its shape.

I didn't get the chance to cross the channel and see this, especially at midnight. This, then, had some interest for me.
