Tromso, Norway: Tromso Bridge

Before 1960, residents and visitors to the Tromso area couldn't easily go back and forth from Tromso Island and the mainland. A ferry was needed. Then, like magic, this bridge opened up ... and that all changed.

Prime Minister Einar Gerhardsen even turned up for the ceremony, which marked a happy day for almost everyone but the ferry operators. At least it's a good-looking structure as these things go. It was honored by the Norwegian Architects Association and the Norwegian Concrete Association.

The Norwegian Concrete Association? Really? There's a group that must know how to party.

I'll admit that a video showing someone driving over the bridge is not Must See TV.
