Barcelona, Spain: Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia

Here's a building with a lot of history attached to it.

Say hello to the Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia. Generalitat translates to government in this case, so this is the seat of the region of Catalonia. The region is self-governed as part of Spain, and its rulings come out of here.

The neat part if the age. The building was purchased to house the government in 1400. That's almost 100 years before Christopher Columbus became famous. Here we are, more than 600 years later, and the structure still serves the same purpose. That's very unusual.

As you'd guess, there has been some remodeling done over the year, but nothing too drastic. It has become a symbol of democracy for the people of the region.
