Then again, this is London Bridge. The song, which you learned in grade school, says it's falling down. It's not, but you probably need to see it on a trip to London.
The spot has been used to connect the two sides of London for centuries. A stone bridge over the Thames lasted 600 years before it was replaced by a new one in the 19th century. That one lasted until 1967. The problem was that the city's engineers figured out that the bridge was sinking. Collapse wasn't forecast to be immediate, but it was eventual a fraction of an inch at a time.
The bridge was purchased in 1968 and moved, piece by piece to Arizona. There it was put back together, and by 1971 it was opened for business - with some modifications for modern traffic - on October 10, 1971.
There are more interesting bridges in the area, but you'll probably pass it while visiting London.
